Mandate
Mirembe Mental Health Hospital and Isanga Correction Center were established specific for the provision of mental health services. Like some other Government 2 hospitals, Mirembe hospital and Isanga Correction Center were established in the absence of any law. The mandate of the Mirembe Mental Health Hospital and Isanga Correction Center is stipulated under the Government Gazzette No. 45 of 2010 which established them as Super Specialised Mental Health Hospital. Apart from the above mentioned Gazzette, other laws namely the Mental Health Act Cap 98 and the Criminal Procedure Act Cap 20 provide various functions of the Mental health facilities in which case Mirembe being one among the said facilities and the only one at the National level can draw its mandate from them.
